Sorry, I don't know how to reply to your comment about Qjo directly from there, so ... here's my reply. It think the fact that Trinity Blood is often labeled as shoujo is just because of the femine style of the eyes, which with those long eyelashes and big pupils, are very femine, and because of the cute girls. I also know that Qjo uses Petrus referring to herself and also the over-sized breasts ... but actually she's female, it's certain ! It's one of the very few things we know about her. c:

I’m not convinced, sorry. Where do you have this information from? As far as I know, anyone can draw cute girls, or boys… I mean, Saint Seiya’s boys also have big eyes and long eyelashes, and yet the series is a shounen, drawn by a man, as we all know. And you don’t see ecchi in real shoujo series, such as Angel Sanctuary, which was drawn by a woman, as you do in Trinity Blood. Anyway. Also, not that the internet is super trustworthy, but in the few sites where I found gender information about Qjo it was written “male”. And in the TB volumes I have (1-13), Qjo is always refered to as male. It’s in Portuguese, so there’s gender in the words. And I do trust my country’s translation.

Kiyo Kyujyo’s art is incredible.

I love her style and I admire the way she can alternate funny moments and serious ones making all of them look like a fairytale.

I’m sorry if this sounds rude, but I strongly believe that Qjo is a guy.
I do agree with all the aspects mentioned above, but… I mean, his art is very feminine, yes, and I often see Trinity Blood being labeled as shoujo, but, idk, there is too much ecchi/hentai in it for me to think it’s drawn by a woman. Also, there’s the little comics in the end of some volumes, when he uses male characters of the story as avatars for himself and his assistants (Qjo uses Petrus for himself). Not to mention Zone-00, which is authored only by him and is covered in super-short skirts and over-sized breasts =_=’

Dos trabalhos acadêmicos sobre certos fandoms

Porque falta de informação me irrita muito. Ainda mais da parte de quem, espera(va)-se, domina o assunto.

Hoje topei com duas situações que me fizeram pensar:

Eu que vou ter que fazer um artigo/TCC sobre anime/mangá pra existir um trabalho acadêmico minimamente decente sobre esse tema no Brasil?
Cadê os otakus acadêmicos? Que vergonha, meus irmãos -q Assim vocês só confirmam a nossa fama de preguiçosos!!
Porque, francamente, todos os trabalhos que eu já achei tinham alguma coisa (erros, mesmo) que me fez largar deles antes de terminar de ler. Sério. A n00beza dos autores é notável demais e isso me irrita. ¬¬°
Se é pra fazer trabalho sobre fandom, dá aqui pra mim que eu faço. Eu faço!, sem zoação, faço mesmo, e mais bem feito (modéstia à parte) do que esses aí que nem pesquisam muito e acham que estão informando muita gente. Dá pra um fã de verdade fazer que ele faz melhor do que qualquer doutor. Ou DÁ AQUI PRA MIM QUE EU REVISO PRA TI, ESTUDANTE DE JORNALISMO. /prontofalei

Com isso não quero defender que eu é que sei tudo sobre anime/mangá. Até porque sei muito pouco. Mesmo. Estou dizendo que, nos pouquíssimos trabalhos acadêmicos sobre anime/mangá que já encontrei pela net, li erros elementares, que, francamente, QUALQUER otaku com um ou dois anos de otakice, hoje em dia, seria capaz de notar e corrigir prontamente.

Vou relatar os exemplos com que eu topei hoje.
